Four of the best things to do in the hinterland in the School holidays (and three of them are free or very little cost!)
The Top Four things to do with kids all within 30 minutes from Montville Mountain Inn Resort and three of them are free or are at a very small cost.
1. Russell Family Park – is right behind the main street in Montville. It has a 600m track around two ponds with lots of bird life. Kids can ride their small bikes, or scooters and there is a huge grassy hill to climb and run down as well as a kids’ playground. Great for a family picnic. Check out our blog and the video that show you all about it.
2. Mary Caincross Scenic Reserve and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
We can’t say enough about how amazing this Centre and the 1.7km walking track through the rainforest are. If you haven’t been there before – you absolutely should put this on the top of your list. There is a huge picnic area with bbq’s and a great kids’ playground as an added bonus. Entry to the walk is by gold coin donation. The Discovery Centre is one of the most amazing things to see in the hinterland and has only just been completed at a cost of $4.7 million dollars. Watch the two videos to see just how spectacular they are.
3. Australia Zoo is only a 25 minute drive from Montville Mountain Inn. It is definitely one of the most popular places to visit with kids.
4. Yandina Ginger factory is also only 25 minutes away from us and is another favourite of kids and parents with free admission. The Ginger Factory is offering “The Comedy Circus and Stunt Show” as school holiday entertainment (July 2017). There are a whole lot of rides and displays you can pay to see and go on and you can check them out here.
